As a local government councillor, you are an integral part of the LGAQ and its operation. We are driven by our membership – so how we connect and share information with you is important to us.
In your first term as a councillor in 2020, you can expect us to engage with you across several platforms – so you can choose which works best for you.
Email alerts tailored to you
We respect you are busy in your role. Our LG Connect membership email alerts to your Council email address will be high level information you need to know about the business of local government in Queensland.
Along the way we will give you the option of subscribing to updates and alerts from subject matter experts and areas which interest you.
Our CEO Greg Hallam AM provides a quick video update each week for those interested.
Urgent SMS alerts
Where permission is given, Mayors and Council CEOs will be quickly alerted to breaking news and updates via SMS.
Login to LG Online
Your council issued qld.gov.au email address will grant you access to LG Online – a portal only accessible to those working in local government. Here you can live chat with the LGAQ Team, connect with policy and subject matter experts and access resources and guides to help you in your role.
Face-to-face
We pride ourselves on visiting you in your community wherever possible. Our LGAQ staff are often on the road – including our Executive Team and President – and give regular updates on our work at Regional Organisation of Councils (ROCs).
Each year we run an Elected Member Update with your Council – which is designed to help you connect with important information about the sector and current local government landscape.
We also provide opportunities for you to network and engage with your peers view our local government event calendar. The biggest event in our calendar is our Annual Conference, held this year on the Gold Coast.
